VW Beetle in Cozumel Mexico
A Volkswagen Beetle is parked by the side of the road in Cozumel, Mexico, as seen during a stop on our 2022 Disney Cruise.
You may already know that Beetles are popular in Mexico. Even though I know that, I still always enjoy seeing them, and I have tried to capture one on each of our two visits. You can see another VW Beetle in the post Street Views in Mexico from our 2016 cruise. That one was in Progresso, while the one pictured here was in Cozumel.
Although this photo makes it look like this Beetle was abandoned in a jungle somewhere, this was actually right at the side of the road. There just happened to be a lot of trees and growth in this area. So don’t worry, this Beetle had not been abandoned. It was just parked in the shade.
Associations
Volkswagen Beetles always make me think of Herbie the Love Bug. Blame the fact that I grew up in the 1970s and 1980s for that. I have always enjoyed those movies, especially the first and second ones. So Beetles always make me think of Herbie. At least the old Beetles. Not so much with the new Beetles. But definitely the old ones.
That makes me think of other associations. (This) always makes me think of (that). Summer always makes me think of the beach. The dentist always makes me think about pain (not really). Thanksgiving always makes me think about turkey and dressing. And so on.
What do people associate with you? What do people associate with me? Is it good or bad? Does it need to change? Sometimes we can control what people associate with, other times not so much.
But if you are living your life the right way, you are doing what you can. Keep it up. If not, make some changes. It isn’t too late.
Therefore I exhort you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a sacrifice—alive, holy, and pleasing to God—which is your reasonable service. About the Photo
I purposefully gave this photo a dark, moody look. I thought it fit the scene rather well. I could have made it all bright and sunny, but this was the feeling that I had for this photo.
Isn’t it interesting how photos can be subject to the photographer’s interpretation sometimes? I often think that 10 different people taking a photo of the same thing at the same time will produce 10 very different photos, all based on the personalities and preferences of the photographer. Not that my personality is dark and moody all the time, but that was my preference for this photo.
